Education; Rational

 

Sara Shaw from People serving People thanks us again for our help at PSP and she passed out the letters of participation to the volunteers.

 

The meeting was called to order by Chef Schuster

We say the pledge of allegiance followed by a moment of silence for our departed Members, Family, and Friends.

Chef Schuster swears in new members Robb Siever and Tom Freeman.

 

President Dwyer thanks Chef’s Thomas and Bob from Rational.

He thanks our host’s Susanna and Ann of Centerpoint.

 

Self introductions around the room.

 

President Dwyer asks for a motion to accept February’s minutes as written;

Chef Duberstein makes the motion, seconded by Chef Conway,

The motion passes.

 

President Dwyer thanks Sara Shaw and said that the chef’s day off event was a great success. He thanks Chef Gouda/ Chef Sturzl.

 

Committee Reports:

 

Fund raising; Chef Booth tells us that we have a Chef de’ Brigade volunteer for the Helping Paws fundraising banquet, Chef Venne has volunteered.

 

Membership; Chef Venne tells us that we average about two new members each meeting.

 

Student/Junior scholarship; Chef Schuster tells us that he has the 2006 applications; if you want one goe see him. The deadline for accepting applications is September 30th 2006,

The scholarships will be handed out at our November awards Dinner.

We’re in the process of getting together the Junior National ACF Convention Sponsorship for 2006; the application will be on the web-site.

 

Certification; If you need information about certification or want to borrow books to study see Chefs John Cappellucci, Rick Forphal or Phil Gatto.

                 There will be a Practical exam during regionals at MCTC and we will be doing more practical exams after the regional. Maybe doing a couple at other sites might be good.

 

Correspondence; Chef Jedneak tells us that the thank you letters went out from the UP show. Tracy Smith from The National office is going to send us information on when the people from the office are coming in for the regional.

 

Web-site; is minneapolischefs.20m.com. If you want something to go on the web-site, like pictures, just send them to Chef Lund and he’ll get them on.

 

Are you Really ACF; Chef Eisinrigich thanks us for our donation to the Chef and Child Family tree on behalf of his Mother.

                 Chef Conway informs us that we will be receiving a Gold Plate in April at the Regional.

 

Chef and Child; Mark Good and Chris Sturzl. At the kids café in April Chef Jeff LaBeau will be there. In May Chef David Eisenreich will be there.

                Mark Good informs us that Kids café will be starting back up in September. He suggests that we try to go will 3 or 4 people that will be committed to making sure that someone is there. Maybe a couple more puppets would be a good thing.

 

By-Laws and Elections; Chef Booth informs us that nominations for chapter officers will be starting at our August meeting, and run for three consecutive meetings. Voting will take place in the beginning of November and the new Board will be announced at our awards banquet. So if you want to be on the Board have someone nominate you, if you know of someone that you want to see on the board nominate them. And make sure you cast your vote when you get your ballot.

 

AAC; Chef Castergneri informs us that Chef Jeff LaBeau will be going in this summer at the National.

 

Historian; chef Schuster “If you have any pictures or plates awards ECT. To put out at the regional please bring them, or bring them in to MCTC.”

 

  

2006; Everything is pretty much in the bag, done deal.  We have hats for sale and a MN. Moose.

           Gary from the MCTC book store will be operating the regional book store; He’ll be selling 16 different cook books. He said he’ll sell the hat and moose for us.

           We have the bags and badge holders, there very nice. We have a lot of great stuff to put into the bags; we’ll be filling them this Friday at MCTC at 4PM so this will be your 1st opportunity to be a volunteer for the regional. And Wednesday morning at 8AM at the Hyatt, in the Nicollet room A, we’ll finish the bags.

            There is an official 2006 regional chef jacket. If you get the order in by Friday, she’ll bring your jacket to the conference. You can call Stella at new chef  # 1-800-new-chef ext. 254. The cost of the jacket is $65.

             Thursday night for the ice breaker we need 4 members to ride the busses to Mystic, and we’re asking all other members to please drive themselves to Mystic to save on rental of the busses.

              The VP of the central region has stated that if you are in a chef jacket, you will not be able to get an alcoholic drink.

               We’ll need volunteers to take meal tickets and to check the rooms before the seminars. We just need people to be available to step in and help when needed.

                There will be a lot of cool seminars to attend.

 

Chef Conway asks if you can get just seminar tickets, the seminars come with meals.

 

President Dwyer informs us that Chef Fisher always goes above and beyond and it’s always awesome.

 

MBI took care of so much that there’s not much else needed.

 

Chef Schuster tells us that we have a shelving unit donated to display all of our memorabilia.

 

Old Business; Nothing.

 

New Business; Chef Schuster thinks that the certification chairs should do an education on certification again, a fact meeting to show people how easy it can be.

 

President Dwyer asks for a motion to close, Chef Conway makes the motion, Chef Koopman seconds.   Meeting Closed.
